Is WordPress Still Relevant in 2026?
With Webflow, Wix, Framer, Shopify, and AI website builders becoming more capable, people keep asking the same question:
“Is WordPress still relevant?”
I think it is.
WordPress still powers roughly 40% of all websites on the internet and remains the dominant CMS.
But there's another reason I think WordPress will remain relevant for many businesses.
1. Ease of Management
Not every business wants to depend on a developer every time someone needs to change a phone number, add a service, upload an image, edit a page, or publish a post.
A marketing assistant, office administrator, or relatively junior employee can often handle these everyday tasks without knowing how to code.
For many businesses, that simplicity and flexibility matter more than having the newest technology.
2. Businesses Don't Always Need the Newest Technology
A newer platform isn't automatically a better platform for every business.
Sometimes businesses need something their employees can easily understand, update, and manage.
That's one of WordPress's biggest strengths.
The ability to hand over a website to a business and have its staff manage everyday content without needing a developer is still valuable.
3. The Problem Is Often Neglected WordPress Sites
The bigger problem isn't WordPress itself.
It's neglected WordPress websites.
Plugins become outdated.
Security vulnerabilities appear.
Forms stop working.
Pages become slow.
Backups aren't checked.
Search performance can decline.
A website can continue to exist for years while quietly becoming less secure, slower, and less effective.
4. Building the Website Is Only the Beginning
A website needs ongoing attention.
I don't think the value of WordPress is simply in being able to build a website quickly.
The real value comes from keeping that website secure, functional, fast, and optimized for the business.
That's why I offer monthly WordPress maintenance:
- Updates
- Backups
- Security checks
- Bug fixes
- Performance optimization
- SEO maintenance
My Rule
Don't build it and forget it.
WordPress may not be the newest platform, but for millions of businesses, it remains a practical one.
And practical technology doesn't become irrelevant simply because newer technology arrives.
If you already have a WordPress website that needs ongoing care:
